ViPHS project presented at stroke conference
Hanna Maurin Söderholm from the University of Borås presented the ViPHS project at the European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC). ViPHS — short for Video Support in the Prehospital Stroke Chain — is an initiative from Prehospital ICT Arena and is led by Lars Rosengren, Professor of Neurology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
ESOC is Europe’s main forum for discussing and disseminating the latest in stroke care and was held in Gothenburg this year.
ViPHS studies how video consultations between on-call stroke response crew and ambulance staff can be used to improve prehospital assessment of stroke patients. The study made use of full-scale simulations, and video has proven to work well for stroke assessment even in time-critical situations.
