New project manager with visions

Tuesday, December 19, 2017

Since November, Johanna Bergman has been project manager at PICTA. She has a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, and we got to acquaint ourselves with a few of her thoughts on subjects such as prehospital e-health and Lindholmen Science Park.

How did you end up applying to Gothenburg and PICTA?
“Above all, because I think that e-health is an exciting field. Lindholmen Science Park and Prehospital ICT Arena felt completely like the right forum. If we’re going to find innovative solutions for prehospital care, we’ll need collaboration!”

You are relatively new to the job; how has the start been?
“It’s fantastic to be a part of the innovative environment that Lindholmen offers. There are so many exciting projects, as well as knowledge and experience, both at Lindholmen and in PICTA’s network. I’m already involved in two different projects dealing with things like simulations and tests and identification of sepsis, which is actually a relatively unknown but serious widespread disease that leads to major costs to society. We’ll be taking this up in the first Metis Forum of the year as well.”

Are there any fields in prehospital care you think are particularly exciting?
All the opportunities and challenges that come with the combination of IT, technology, and medical care are interesting, but the user and operational perspective is what I find most exciting. Most often, the technological solutions already exist, and what we have to work on is finding the right applications and methods of getting them into medical care so that they are actually used and do some good,” Johanna concludes.
